Worship Ministry

Worship Ministry calendar

Our goal in worship is to glorify God and God alone. We emphasize that Jesus pointed out to the Pharisees that the Greatest Commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37). It is also interesting to note that immediately before Jesus gave the Great Commission, the disciples bowed in worship before Him. Every ministry in Christian life flows out of a heart of worship.

Our worship ministries include the Sanctuary Choir, instrumental ensemble, and preschool and children’s choirs. Goals for expansion of this ministry include a handbell choir and youth choir.

Our worship services are planned in a style that Robert Webber calls “convergent worship.” The most common term, although perhaps not the best, for this style is “blended.” We evenly combine traditional hymns (although we sometimes contemporize the accompaniment) with modern worship songs. We still use a pipe organ, but add to it piano, keyboards, brass, and percussion.

Pastor Gregory Pittman (Associate Pastor of Worship & Senior Adults) leads this ministry.
